IPL Skin Rejuvenation

Ellipse IPL skin rejuvenation is used to treat sun damaged skin.  It also used to diffuse redness (high colouring) and pigmented lesions such as age spots, sunspots, freckles and uneven pigmentation patches on common areas such as the face, neck, chest and backs of the hands.

How does it work?

During the treatment the flash of light that comes through the applicator will be attacted to the excess melanin/pigment in your skin.  This will cause a heat reaction that will break down the melanin in the skin cells and cause a photoxic reaction in the melanin vesicles, the excess melanin will turn darker and will develop into a light crust or "dirty look" which will be shed naturally within 7 to 10 days.  After this your skin will look smooth and youthful.  When treating to diffuse redness the light is absorbed by the superficial blood vessels in the skin. The heat reaction caused will coagulate the blood vessels and destroy protein in their walls stimulating in turn collagen production.

Does It hurt?

The sensation is described as a heat sensation and a few clients compare it to mild sunburn after the treatment.  Slight erythema is seen immediately after and will disappear in an hour or two.
